What Ping Services done with your Posts?
Ping Services sends signals to the search engines for new post to index instead of waiting for the search engines to crawl your website which may take days for index your new content. It is one of the vital factor which can effects your blog ranking on search engines.
Whenever you update your blog by writing new post or edit existing, it is important to notify search engines to index it quickly as possible. Clicking on publish/Update Post will send ping to these services which are in the list of Update Services, and these Update Services then send notification to the Search engines that new content is added or updated for index.
Is it good to use Ping Services?
Yes, it has no negative impact on your website, as it send notification to many search engines for index your latest content. WordPress uses Ping-O-Matic’s server for Ping Services. SO why not to get index your blog posts at many search engines.
It is one of major thing to do right after installing WordPress application to your website. You can verify your todo checklist at my another post for important configurations and settings that you must do after setting up your new WordPress installation.
Below are the steps to add or update Ping services list in WordPress.
How to add Ping Services list to WordPress?
Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.
2. From Left sidebar click on Setting> Writing.
3. Copy the list I have provided below and overwrite ping list under the heading Update Service
4. Click on “Save Changes”.
That’s all to ping the above services which will send notification to search engines each time you write or update post.
